It is an understatement actually to say that the World of Warcraft and all its myriad expansions have captivated the attention of the gaming world like no other MMORPG ever has. Ever since the launch of this game in 2004, the game has gone from strength to strength. Today it stands as the highest played MMORPG in the world, boasting of the largest number of subscribers in comparison to any other game that has ever been released in the genre.

Today, the entire World of Warcraft legion of fans numbers an astounding eight million, which is clearly a greater number by far than the population of most of the nations around the globe! At a quick glance, there are about 2 million players in North America alone, Europe has more than 1.5 million players and China stands at a staggering 3.5 million avid players for this mega franchise. Clearly, World of Warcraft is not just a game - it is well on its way of becoming a major worldwide phenomenon. And we are not talking just about the gaming world here!

According to many of its players one of the major attractions to the World of Warcraft is the fact that it is multi-leveled. It allows you grow from as a struggling lowlife in its basic levels into a master strategist at the top levels. The original version of World of Warcraft had 60 levels. The Burning Crusade patch version has up to 70 levels while the expected yet to be released Lich King Version will have players struggling up to level 80.

The game has created its own lingua based on terms from the game. Players can chat with each other through the game's interface using the game's own special language. The number of players for the World of Warcraft hasn't dwindled in the years after its release, and there seems to be no chance for it to happen in the near future. It is not wrong to say that among the reverent gaming population of the world, the World of Warcraft is nothing short of a religion.
